The UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan affirmed his country’s firm stance in support of Morocco in its issues in regional and international forums, and reiterated support for Rabat’s sovereignty over the Sahara.
He said during his participation in the ministerial conference organized by the United States and Morocco via video: “I would like to emphasize the position of the UAE and its firm principle in standing with the brotherly Kingdom of Morocco in its issues in regional and international forums, especially the issue of the Sahara, as the UAE renews its full support for Morocco in its sovereignty over the whole region And in all the measures it takes to defend the safety and security of its lands and citizens. “
He added, “The UAE supports Morocco’s initiative for self-government over this region.”
He stressed “the importance of continuing the existing coordination in regional and international forums and at the level of bilateral relations in order to achieve peace, stability and prosperity in the entire region.”
The conference was chaired by the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, with the participation of David Schenker, assistant to the US Secretary of State, and a number of foreign ministers and senior officials in a number of countries.
It is noteworthy that, last December, the United States issued a decision in which it recognized Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara region.
