An official source at the General Secretariat of the Arab League stated that Aboul Gheit briefed the UN envoy on the outcomes of the extraordinary ministerial meeting that was held on the 8th of this month, which restored momentum to the Palestinian cause as it is a focus of joint Arab action in the next phase.
Aboul Gheit affirmed that the meeting and the decision issued by it reflect the renewed Arab consensus on the determinants of the peace process and the two-state solution, and establishes a collective Arab position in support of the state of Palestine.
The source pointed out that the two sides exchanged views on the developments of the Palestinian and Israeli scenes in light of the elections expected in the two countries in the coming months, as Abul Gheit stressed, on his part, the importance of the recent Palestinian talks in Cairo, and the agreement that the elections witnessed, indicating that this path is supported by Full of the Arab League with the aim of renewing Palestinian legitimacy, rearranging the house from within, and strengthening the Palestinian position in any future negotiations.
