Adam Lallana reveals he was ‘chucked out’ of Liverpool’s squad WhatsApp group ONE DAY after joining Brighton – as he says he’s gone ‘from player to supporter’ of his old team-mates
The 32-year-old moved to the Amex Stadium on a free transfer in the summer after his six-year spell at Liverpool had come to an end.
Adam Lallana has revealed he was kicked out of Liverpool’s group chat a day after his exit
The ex-Liverpool man watched his old side beat FC Midtjylland in BT Sport studio on Tuesday
The former England international was in the BT Sport studio as a pundit for Liverpool’s Champions League clash with FC Midtjylland on Tuesday but said he didn’t find it weird to watch his old side without being involved.
‘It was the right time for me to leave and I found my new challenge really refreshing. I’ve gone from a player to a supporter now,’ he said.
Lallana was then pressed on whether he was still involved in the team’s WhatsApp group. ‘No. You get chucked out,’ he said laughing.
‘I’m still in a couple of groups.
Lallana (L) left Liverpool after six years in the summer to sign for Brighton on a free transfer
He’s been impressed with form of Liverpool new boy Diogo Jota, who scored in Tuesday’s win
‘The admin chucked me out (the main squad one) the day after.’
Lallana has been watching Liverpool closely this season from afar and admits he’s been impressed with their summer business after new signing Diogo Jota scored his third goal for the club in Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Midtjylland.
‘The recruitment has been absolutely sensational,’ he added.
‘[Diogo] Jota’s proven his worth so far, long may it continue.
‘When I first joined Liverpool I tried too hard. It took me between a year and 18 months to settle in – the way Jota’s come in straight away is not to be sniffed at.’
