Adam Sandler kicked off his “You’re My Best Friend Tour” in Florida over the weekend, delighting audiences with surprise appearances from longtime collaborator Kevin James and rapper Vanilla Ice.
During shows in Jacksonville, Tampa, and Miami, Sandler surprised fans by strumming the iconic opening to Vanilla Ice’s 1990 hit, “Ice Ice Baby.” The rapper then emerged on stage, telling the crowd, “We’re back in the ’90s right now!”
Kevin James also joined the performance, showcasing his dance moves alongside a performer dressed as Michelangelo from “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” a nod to Vanilla Ice’s 1991 song “Ninja Rap.”
The collaboration with James extended beyond dancing. At the Miami show, the two performed a comedic sketch where James, pretending to be a regular audience member, was called out by Sandler. This led to a heartfelt, intentionally off-key duet about their friendship, with Sandler telling the “Paul Blart: Mall Cop” star, “Even if we’re not together, you’ve just got to know I’m thinking of ya.”
The setlist also included Sandler’s poignant tribute song to his late “Saturday Night Live” co-star, Chris Farley, who passed away in 1997.
The North American tour is scheduled to continue with stops in New York City, Boston, Toronto, and Chicago before concluding in Las Vegas on November 1.
