Additional collection efforts achieved 607,752 million pesos in 2022: SAT

In 2022, additional fundraising efforts from the Service tax administration (SAT) achieved 607,752 million pesos, an increase of 7.1% in real terms, according to data from the public body. In other words, the amount of 2022 is greater than the 524,426 million pesos registered in 2021.

The amount of the additional collection efforts –or secondary collection– is made up of the inspection of large, medium and small taxpayers, as well as the collection efficiency program.

For its part, the collection efficiency program is made up of three programs: compliance with obligations, in-depth surveillance, and coercive collection.

Regarding auditing, the SAT reported that last year it obtained a collection of 374.482 million pesos through audits, without counting large taxpayers, which meant an annual increase of 10% in real terms.

“From January to December 2022, the General Collection Administrations, Federal Tax Audit and Foreign Trade Audit entered an amount of 374,482 million pesos for audits,” the SAT revealed in a preliminary way. However, he did not provide further details.

In recent years, the SAT has revealed that inspection actions strengthen a culture for better voluntary compliance and self-correction by taxpayers.

Previously, the SAT reported that it collected 233.270 million pesos from audits of large taxpayers last year, which represented an annual increase of 3.5% in real terms.

The latest data shows that, from 2019 to 2022, the SAT has collected 753,988 million pesos through audits of large taxpayers, an amount that exceeds the 501,133 million pesos obtained in the entire past six-year term.

It should be remembered that since 2020, the Tax Administration Service implemented the institutional ABC strategy, which means increasing collection efficiency, lowering tax evasion and avoidance, and fighting corruption.
