Some Saturday Night Live viewers were left less than impressed with a sketch featuring Adele that poked fun at sex tourism in Africa.

The singer, 32, hosted the most recent episode of the sketch show and received praise for her comedic skills.

However, some were unhappy with a sketch that made fun of wealthy westerners travelling to Africa for no-strings fun, with Adele and SNL castmember Kate McKinnon portraying women advertising ‘holidays’ in Africa.

Skit: Some Saturday Night Live viewers were left less than impressed with a sketch featuring Adele that poked fun at sex tourism in Africa

In the skit, the pair front an ad for the Tourism Board of Africa encouraging women to visit the continent for its natural beauty while also hinting at more X-rated activities they could do.

Dressed in a blue dress and wearing a large blonde wig, Adele walks toward the camera alongside Kate and says: ‘Sun, breeze, oceans, mountains, in beautiful Africa.’

As Kate says: ‘witness the wonder, the escape, the story,’ a shirtless black man walks behind them linking arms with a white woman.

Adele continues: ‘The sandy beaches. The massive bamboo.’

Kate then says: ‘The tribesman,’ which makes Adele lose control as she struggles to stifle her laughter while carrying on with the scene.

The pair are then joined by a third woman, Heidi Gardner, who says she traveled to the continent after divorcing her husband.

Adele holds back a giggle as she says: ‘I found a deep, deep connection,’ to which Heidi replies: ‘You can feel it in your stomach.’

Some viewers took to social media to react to the clip and hit out at the show for ‘fetishising’ black men.

One said: ‘Tone deaf SNL! Can we please stop fetishising black men and women?!’ while another said: ‘Don’t like this narrative of fetishisation.’

Another added: ‘This was NOT it. Downright offensive’.

According to The Sun, another said: ‘I was actually enjoying it until the comments and the black men carrying white women around.. actually felt a bit sick and couldn’t enjoy the rest and I adore Adele but I wish she hadn’t taken part in this skit.’

Meanwhile, another user said: ‘Adele looks great for sure but the Africa skit was in poor taste tbh!’

However, others said they enjoyed the segment with one person referring to it as the ‘best skit’ while another said: ‘This was absolutely hilarious. Loved it.’

Adele received backlash with many suggesting she was profiting off black culture with her choice of outfit and hairstyle.

However, she was defended by celebrities including Naomi Campbell and Alexandra Burke while others said Adele was surrounded by Jamaican culture while growing up in Tottenham, and has always been a supporter of the Notting Hill Carnival.
