In an interview Ricardo del Valle, general secretary of the Union Association of Aviation Flight Attendants (ASSA) stated that the two organizations -Asociación Sindical de Pilotos Aviadores (ASPA)- decided to coordinate efforts to more forcefully demand compliance with company agreements

“The workers no longer believe him because he says that he will attend to the debts and that has not been the case. This is a problem that has been going on for more than five years now,” she said.

He added that a benefit, which is part of the rights of workers, is the saving Fund, which has not been delivered, despite the fact that a part has already been deducted from the workers; “Likewise, they owe union dues, but today what we demand is that the debts with the workers be covered.”

He explained that of the 7,000 million pesos that they owe, at least 26 million are related to surcharges, plus the debt with pilots and those related to government taxes “although all that is deducted from the workers’ salary.”

Although this is the first action taken by the workers, it could lead to a strike, since it will be next week when the workers decide whether to put up the red-black flags by October 14 at 12:00 p.m., or decide to sit down to negotiate.

The situation is unfortunate, explained Del Valle, because the company only fails to comply and nothing has happened, nor because the labor authority has participated in the conciliatory meetings, “it simply says that it does not have to pay and almost almost that they do it as they want.”
