Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim announced that 10 MPs demanded a vote of no-confidence against Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah after questioning him in Parliament.
Al-Ghanim said that the voting will take place next Wednesday.
The Minister of Defense had been questioned about accusations including involving women in the military, and violations in the purchase of Eurofighter planes, accusations that the Minister denied.
To withdraw confidence from the minister requires a vote of the majority of the members of the Council, except for the ministers.
In April of last year, the Court of Ministers ordered the detention of former Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, pending investigation into the “Army Fund” case, in a decision that is considered the first of its kind in the history of Kuwait.
