The head of the Israeli “Yesh Atid” party, Yair Lapid, and the head of the United Arab List Mansour Abbas, agreed to continue contacts between them in the coming days as part of efforts to form the next government.
This came during a meeting held today, Sunday, at Lapid’s house, in continuation of the meeting they held before the elections at the initiative of the mayor of Taybeh, Shuaa Masarweh.
In two brief statements, Yesh Atid and Al-Mouhidah said that Lapid and Abbas “discussed possibilities for forming a new government” and agreed to continue dialogue between them in the coming days.
The “Oneet” website quoted an informed source as saying that Abbas put forward to Lapid the demands of the “united list” in exchange for the party’s support for him, including the freedom to vote on the issue of homosexuals, recognition in Bedouin villages in the Negev and the freezing of the Kamenets law (which provides for the acceleration of home demolition Violation ”) and amending the national law, in addition to setting up a practical plan to defeat crime in Arab society.

The source added that Abbas is facing difficulty in reaching an agreement with the camp of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, due to the opposition of the right-wing parties to form a government based on the “united list.”
Abbas had met yesterday, Saturday, with the “Likudian” Pole Ayoub Kara, who called him to support a government headed by Netanyahu, after the election results showed that the unified list constitutes a “spawn” between the two camps competing for the presidency of the Israeli government.
As for Abbas, he told “Radio Al-Nas” that communications are continuing, but that there are no direct contacts with the “Joint List.”
According to Kan, Israeli public radio, three days ago, Lapid requested a meeting with representatives of the Joint List, which won 6 seats in the Knesset, and is expected to meet with them in the coming days.
