The official Myanmar Radio and Television Network reported that state media are facing technical problems and cannot broadcast.
The network added in a post on its Facebook page: “Due to the current communication difficulties, we would like to respectfully inform you that it is not possible to broadcast the regular programs of the MRTV channel and Radio Myanmar.”
Citizens reported that some telephone and Internet services in Yangon, the main city of Myanmar, had been disrupted, and Internet monitoring service NetBlocks indicated that Internet connectivity in Myanmar had dropped to 75% of normal levels from 3 am local time.

State media is facing difficulties in broadcasting just hours after the ruling National League for Democracy party announced the arrest of the country’s president, Win Myint, party leader Aung San Suu Kyi and other senior officials at dawn today.
“I would like to inform our people not to respond to this recklessly, and I would like them to act in accordance with the law,” party spokesman Myo Nyunt told “Reuters”, adding that he expected that he would be arrested as well.
The Myanmar army announced on Saturday that it would protect the country’s constitution, abide by it and act according to the law, amid fears in the country that the armed forces may try to seize power.
In an official statement, the army said that the recent statements made by its top military commander regarding the abrogation of the constitution had been misinterpreted by the media and some organizations.
