The International Handball Federation (IHF) announced in an official statement Tuesday the withdrawal of the United States of America from the 27th edition of the World Cup of the game hosted by Egypt from January 13 to 31.
In its statement, the International Federation said that the American Federation withdrew from the World Cup after several cases of Corona virus appeared among the team’s players, which reached 18 cases.
And the International Federation announced that Switzerland had been summoned to participate in the place of the American team, according to the arrangement of the European Nations Cup.
To make the American team the second team to apologize for participating in the World Cup, as the last few hours witnessed the withdrawal of the Czechs, and the North Macedonia team replaced them.
Switzerland is a substitute for the US national team in Group E.

It should be noted that the International Handball Federation has settled after the withdrawal of the Czechs to place 5 teams as emergencies in the event that any team participating in the tournament apologized, namely Switzerland, the Netherlands, Montenegro (Montenegro), Ukraine and Serbia.
