A verbal altercation between Egyptian singer Mohamed Fouad and a doctor sparked widespread reactions on social media, with the matter escalating to include the intervention of the Doctors Syndicate, the Ain Shams University administration, and the Musicians Syndicate in the crisis.
The altercation took place with one of the doctors at Ain Shams Specialized Hospital in the capital, Cairo, at dawn on Tuesday, August 20, when Fouad took his brother to the emergency department due to a health crisis.
According to what the singer mentioned in a video he filmed, his brother needed immediate medical intervention after suffering a heart attack, but he did not receive adequate medical care – according to Fouad – so the matter developed into a verbal altercation that reached the point of cursing, insults and assault.

Ain Shams University and the Musicians Syndicate intervene
Immediately after the incident, Ain Shams University, which is responsible for the hospital, announced that it would take legal action and file a report with the Public Prosecution Office, which is investigating what happened.
As for the head of the Doctors Syndicate, Dr. Osama Abdel-Hay, he condemned the incident “strongly,” stressing that the assault on medical staff was “absolutely unacceptable,” and emphasizing that the Syndicate would take all necessary legal measures.
For his part, the head of the Musicians Syndicate, Mustafa Kamel, expressed his appreciation and respect for all doctors and nursing staff, noting that he had a long phone call with Fouad to find out the details of what was circulated on social media and the media.
He added, “I ask everyone who reads this statement to ask himself, even for a few minutes, since when has Mohamed Fouad been cursing and insulting state institutions, which we hold in high esteem and respect, and primarily the loyal doctors of Egypt, for whom we hold in high esteem and respect.”
He concluded, “I declare, in my capacity as the head of the Egyptian Musicians Syndicate, the necessity of standing by the syndicate member, colleague Mohamed Fouad, and assigning the Legal Affairs Department to follow up the matter legally and to search and investigate the reason and motive for this incident from the beginning.”
