Agri-food trade grew 13% between Mexico and the United States in 2022

According to data from the United States Census Bureau, as of December 2022, Mexican exports totaled a record figure of 44.202 million dollars, which implied an increase of 14% compared to the end of 2021, while imports added 28,935 million dollars.

Thus, in the last four years, the agri-food trade between Mexico and the United States went from 50.877 million dollars in 2019 to 73.137 million dollars in 2022.

The main products of the Mexican primary sector that were exported to the US market in 2022 were:

• Avocado
• Tomato
• Strawberries (raspberry and blackberry)
• Pepper
• Beef
• Bakery products
• Strawberry
• Confectionery

In particular, sales of beer totaled 5,394 million dollars, followed by tequila (5,044 million), avocado (2,871 million), tomato (2,477 million) and strawberries (strawberries and blackberries, 1,855 million).

They were followed by exports of peppers (1,444 million dollars), boneless beef (1,109 million), sweet bread (1,074 million dollars), strawberries (1,054 million) and confectionery (1,017 million).

The most important growth at the end of last year, compared to December 2021, occurred in exports of tequila and mezcal, which registered an increase of 36%, followed by those of sweet bread, 29%, and confectionery, 24 percent. hundred.
