Al-Ahly won the Egyptian Premier League title for the second time in a row and the 44th time in its history, after beating Smouha 1-0 in a postponed match from the 24th round, which was held on Thursday at Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria.
The title holder raised its score to 81 points, achieving its 20th consecutive victory, securing the title two rounds before the end of the league.
Substitute Mohamed Magdy “Afsha” scored the only goal of the match in the sixth minute of stoppage time in the second half, giving his team a victory that extended its record for consecutive victories, and decisively clinching the league title after a strong competition with Pyramids with 73 points and only two matches remaining, while Al-Ahly has 3 matches remaining that will not affect its coronation.

By winning the Premier League title this season, Al-Ahly has strengthened its record as the team with the most titles in the competition, with a difference of 30 titles over its closest pursuer, its traditional rival Zamalek. In fact, the number of Al-Ahly titles alone in the competition exceeds more than double the titles won by the other teams.
Zamalek won 14 titles, while Ismaily won it 3 times, in addition to one title each for Arab Contractors, Ghazl El Mahalla, Alexandria Olympic and Tersana.
Al-Ahly also continued to monopolize all local titles since its Swiss coach, Marcel Koller, took over the team's training in September 2022.
Since Kohler took over Al-Ahly, succeeding the Portuguese Ricardo Soares, the Red Team has not lost any local title, as it won the Egyptian Super Cup 3 times, the Egyptian League twice, and the Egypt Cup twice, noting that it also won the African Champions League title in the last two editions, in addition to winning third place and the bronze medal in the Club World Cup in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia last December, in addition to winning fourth place in the Club World Cup in Morocco in February 2023.
Al-Ahly's total titles with Kohler reached 9 titles, both locally and continentally.
