The leader of the Yemeni “Ansar Allah” group, Muhammad Ali Al-Houthi, commented on the call of the UN envoy, Martin Griffiths, to stop the fighting in the Ma’rib governorate in the northeast of the country.
The Houthi leader tweeted today, saying: “The battle has not stopped since the failure of their attack on the Nihm district, east of the capital, Sana’a, until today until Griffiths comes to classify the battle as an attack on Marib.”
He added, “He, the UN envoy, knows that the aggression rejected from the outset the nine-point initiative regarding Marib, under the justification that the countries of aggression and its mercenaries are going to liberate the capital, Sanaa, and he did not accept to stop the raids and lift the siege in exchange for stopping the bombing.”
Earlier in the day, the UN envoy, Martin Griffiths, called on the “Ansar Allah” group to stop its attack on Marib, and warned that “seeking to seize control of the territories by force threatens all prospects for the peace process.”
