On October 30, the Swiss judiciary acquitted the president of Saint-Germain and the “BN” media group of the corruption case, which the influential businessman considered an attack on his reputation.
Al-Khulaifi appeared before the Swiss judiciary alongside the former Secretary General of the French International Federation of Football Association Jerome Falk, who avoided imprisonment by receiving a 120-day suspended sentence due to a secondary charge.
In the first case to reach its conclusion in Switzerland within the FIFA corruption scandal, the public prosecutor accused Falk of obtaining from Al-Khulaifi the exclusive use of a luxury villa on the Italian island of Sardinia, in exchange for his support for the BN network to obtain television broadcasting rights for the 2026 and 2030 World Cups in my region. He accused Al-Khulaifi of “inciting Falk to commit aggravated criminal mismanagement” and impartial administration.
Falk and Al-Khulaifi denied before the court any “corruption agreement” between them, and confirmed that the matter is related to a “special” settlement that has nothing to do with the contract between “BN” and “FIFA” in April 2014.
