The head of the transitional council in Yemen, Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, affirmed that the council was moving forward with its goal “to restore the state of the south within the pre-1990 borders,” noting that “the two-state solution is the best for the world and the region.”
Al-Zubaidi said in an interview with the Arab “Sky News” channel: “There is no solution except with two states, and without that, stability will not be achieved in the region .. There is no peace without the south.”
Al-Zubaidi stressed that “he will not hesitate to march towards the independence of the state of the South,” noting that “this is a direct priority for the Council and we will not abandon it, and we demand the international community to recognize and raise our flag at the United Nations.”
The head of the Transitional Council commented on the attack that targeted Aden International Airport, and said that “the attack was by the Houthi militia, and we will confront terrorism and the Houthis and protect the south and its people from them.”
Al-Zubaidi reiterated that the transitional council will remain a strategic ally of the Arab coalition countries, calling on the coalition to “return the Patriot air defense system to Aden, to provide full security for the city.”
Regarding the parity government, Al-Zubaidi said that it is one of the factors of security and stability at the current stage, and continued: “The government has become a government that represents all spectrums of the people, and we rely on it to serve the people.
He added that the southern forces are fully prepared to secure a government of parity between the south and the north in order to perform their duties, provide services and activate state institutions.
The head of the Southern Transitional Council, the UN envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, also called for the participation of a negotiating delegation in the comprehensive Yemeni peace consultations, stressing that “there will be no final and comprehensive solution to the Yemeni issue without our participation, and no political process will take place without the participation of the people of the south.”
