(Trends Wide) — Alex Saab, the alleged financier of embattled Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, will appear in court in Florida on Monday, October 18, the US Department of Justice statement reported Sunday.
“He is expected [Alex Saab] make your first court appearance on Monday, October 18 at 1:00 pm before Federal Judge John J. O’Sullivan of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, ”Nicole said in a statement Sunday. Navas Oxman, spokesman for the United States Department of Justice.
Saab’s extradition was “carried out in full compliance with all relevant Cape Verdean laws and court rulings,” the statement added.
On Saturday, Saab’s lawyer alleged in a video statement that Saab had been “kidnapped” by the United States and that his extradition “violated” the rules of Cape Verdean domestic law and international law.
Alex Saab, a Colombian businessman and alleged financier of Nicolás Maduro, was extradited to the United States from Cape Verde on Saturday. He was arrested in June 2020 in the African nation after a red notice from Interpol due to his accusation in the US.
