Alfredo Morelos wrote his name in Rangers history after scoring his 22nd European goal against Benfica to surpass Ally McCoist’s record.
The striker put his side 3-1 ahead in the 51st minute, meeting a James Tavernier cross to tap-in from a yard out.
Morelos had drawn level with McCoist’s record of 21 European goals after netting against Lech Poznan last week but he went ahead of the Rangers legend with his strike on Thursday.

Rangers went behind in the first minute of the game after a Connor Goldson own goal.
Benfica went down to ten men after former Manchester City defender Nicholas Otamendi was sent off in the 19th minute and Rangers quickly levelled through a Diogo Goncalves own goal.
Glen Kamara put Steven Gerrard’s side ahead a minute later as the Gers made their extra man count and then came Morelos’ record-breaking moment.

Tavernier got away down the right wing and picked out the striker, who had been left all alone at the back post. Morelos could hardly miss as he tapped in from a yard out to extend Rangers’ lead.
But the 10-men of Benfica refused to be beaten with Rafa Silva pulling a goal back in the 77th minute.
Darwin Nunez completed the comeback in the first minute of added time to earn a point for the Portuguese side.
