The official spokesman for the Algerian government, Ammar Belhimer, said that the authorities of his country signed a “consensual deal with a Russian informant” to obtain the first batch of the anti-Corona vaccine.
In a speech that followed a government meeting on Wednesday, he indicated that the “Pasteur Algeria” institute had started a series of consultations with the Russian company producing the “Sputnik V” vaccine, adding that the same institute was continuing consultations with other foreign bodies to obtain other vaccines.
On December 20, President Abdel-Majid Tebboune instructed Prime Minister Abdelaziz Jarad to accelerate the selection of the most appropriate vaccine and start the vaccination process at the beginning of the new year.
