The leaders of the “National Democratic Rally” in Algeria warned of what they described as an attempt by some parties to rob the party and keep it away from its political line, taking advantage of the presence of the party’s secretary general, Ahmed Ouyahia, in prison.
The Algerian newspaper “Al-Shorouk” reported that his opponents were seeking to hasten his ouster and prevent his allies from reaching the party’s leadership.

A week after the Secretary-General of the National Democratic Rally, Ahmed Ouyahia, was imprisoned on charges of corruption and misuse of the position, his opponents within the party moved to drop him and block the way for his supporters who seek to appoint a coordinator to run the “Arendi” in the next stage.
The party’s leader, Shihab Siddiq, warned the general secretaries of the seriousness of the conspiracies that seek to split the party’s ranks.
He said, “The party is experiencing a very delicate and sensitive stage at the organizational level, after its Secretary-General has been temporarily imprisoned on charges of involvement in corruption cases, as some parties seek to seize the opportunity and assume responsibility with superior orders and they are known to belong to the gang.”
He added, “Due to the organizational vacuum, signs of an organized robbery to kidnap the party and its leadership apparatus appeared on the horizon, by people who invoke loyalty to the Secretary-General, raising the slogan” The accused is innocent until proven guilty “or other professionals who take advantage of opportunities are accustomed to assuming responsibility with superior orders.
Members of the National Assembly bloc in the National Assembly demanded the necessity of appointing a successor to Ouyahia at the head of the party in order to preserve the continuity of the work of its national and local organizational structures.
