If 2022 was the year of high society engagements, then it’ll come as no surprise that 2023 is set to host more royal weddings than ever before.
Over the next 12 months, Princess Diana’s niece Lady Amelia Spencer is set to tie the knot alongside Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg, Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan and his sister Princess Iman.
And following on from his happy engagement news over the summer, Prince Ludwig of Bavaria may just be joining the ranks too along with four members of the Jordanian royal family.
Here FEMAIL takes a look at the weddings royal fans have to look forward to in the new year.
Lady Amelia Spencer got engaged to Greg Mallett in South Africa in summer 2020
Lady Amelia Spencer
In July 2020, Lady Amelia Spencer got engaged to long-term boyfriend Greg Mallett following a romantic proposal in South Africa.
The society beauty, 30, who is the daughter of Earl Spencer and first cousin of Princes William and Harry, met her real estate beau while they were both studying at the University of Cape Town.
The couple were together for 11 years before Greg, 32, popped the question at the exclusive Clouds Wine & Guest Estate in Stellenbosch.

He captioned the images: ‘So this was the best day of my life. 22nd of July 2020, I asked the love of my life to spend the rest of her life with me and she said YES. Couldn’t be happier and I love you with all my heart Amelia Spencer.’
Although the couple have largely kept their wedding plans under wraps, Greg let slip on social media that the pair will be tying the knot in March 2023.
Sharing a video of his wife-to-be with his 7,750 followers, he gushed: ‘I did a thing for you. 4 months until I marry the love of my life!’
Last year, the couple relocated from South Africa to London shortly after Amelia’s big sister Kitty’s lavish wedding in Rome – with celebrations being spread over four days.

Charles, the younger brother of the late Princess of Wales, previously revealed that Greg had asked for his blessing before proposing in South Africa.
Taking to Twitter last year, he said: ‘So happy for my daughter, Amelia, engaged to her boyfriend of 11 years, Greg – it’s wonderful to hear them both so excited about their future.
‘Sending them both love, and every good wish for their life together. I love that Greg asked my blessing before proposing. Very sweet.’
Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg
Princess Alexandra and her fiance Nicolas Bagory will tie the knot in April 2023
In November, the Royal Family of Luxembourg announced that Princess Alexandra, 31, accepted her boyfriend Nicolas Bagory’s proposal.
The official announcement read: ‘Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess have the great joy of announcing the engagement of their daughter, Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra, to Monsieur Nicolas Bagory.’
As well as being an active working royal, Princess Alexandra – who is sixth in line to the throne – also works as a professional linguist.
Alexandra’s fiance Nicolas grew up in Brittany in France and reportedly studied political science and classics at university.
Now based in Paris, the 33-year-old works on social and cultural projects.
The couple will have two wedding ceremonies next Spring – one in a town hall and another in a French chateau
The couple will be tying the knot next Spring – with a civil wedding taking place at Luxembourg’s Town Hall on 22 April followed by a reception at the Saint Trophyme church in Bormes-les-Mimosas on 29 April.
They said in a statement: ‘The two families join in the happiness of the engaged couple by surrounding them with their affection.’
Up until her 20th birthday, Princess Alexandra was excluded from the line of succession until 2011, when Grand Duke Henri adopted Absolute Primogeniture, meaning that all his descendants could be in line for the throne, regardless of gender.
She was nine when her father ascended the throne in 2000 after her grandfather abdicated in his favour.
According to her online biography, Alexandra speaks four languages fluently, including Luxembourgian, English, French and Spanish. She can also hold her own in German and Italian.
Throughout her studies – which she pursued in the US, France and Ireland, the Luxembourg royal expressed a keen interest for international relations and conflict.
She even interned for the United Nations in New York when Luxembourg was one of its non-permanent members. She dedicates her time to volunteering with refugees associations and loves sports, being a keen skier, dancer and tennis player.

Queen Rania, 51, and her husband King Abdullah II, 60, were both present.
The proud mother shared: ‘I didn’t think it was possible to hold so much joy in my heart! Congratulations to my eldest Prince Hussein and his beautiful bride-to-be, Rajwa.’

The happy news came as a surprise to royal fans as the relationship has been kept out of the spotlight.
Weeks later, Rania let slip in a now-deleted Instagram video that her son’s wedding would take place next summer – a year after they got engaged.
However, officials have yet to confirm exactly what date the ceremony will take place on.
Princess Iman of Jordan
Princess Iman bint Abdullah II, 25, has announced her engagement to Jameel Thermiotis
Just one month before, Queen Rania’s daughter Princess Iman of Jordan announced her engagement to Jameel Thermiotis.
Princess Iman, 25, is the second-born child of Queen Rania, 51, and King Abdullah II, 60.
According to reports, Venezuela-born Jameel, who is around two years older than the princess, works as a Managing Partner for a Venture Capital fund based in New York.

Iman royal graduated from International Academy Amman in 2014 and was awarded top female athlete in her class. She went on to study at Georgetown University in Washington where her older brother Crown Prince Hussein is majored in international history.

Speaking to Germany’s Bild newspaper, Prince Luitpold said he hoped the couple would ‘start a family soon’, adding: ‘Ludwig made a good choice. My future daughter-in-law is a very intelligent and educated woman.’
News of their engagement was shared by Office of the Bavarian Royal House alongside two pictures of the couple in which they can be seen posing in traditional outfits.
