Meghan Markle has long claimed she knew nothing about the royal family prior to meeting Prince Harry.
But after a blog post from her now-defunct website The Tig resurfaced, it called into question all of the times Megan has said she was oblivious to the roles of the royals.
Two years before she met Prince Harry, 38, Meghan, 41, candidly revealed her true feelings towards royal princesses – and her thoughts on Prince William and Kate’s wedding – debunking her claims that she was clueless when it came to the Royal Family prior to her relationship.
The 2014 entry revealed that the Suits actor dreamt of being a ‘royal rebel’ rather than ‘a Cinderella’ and reflected on the ‘pomp and circumstance’ and ‘endless conversations’ about Princess Kate’s wedding.
This is despite her frequent and repeated claims that she knew very little about the Royal Family before meeting Prince Harry.
A blog post from Meghan Markle’s now defunct website The Tig reveals her scathing view of the ‘endless conversation’ about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s 2011 wedding
The former Suits star shut her website down in 2017 – however she hinted that she may one day revive it during the Sussexes’ Netflix docuseries
Meghan – who herself married into the royal family in an equally elaborate wedding in 2018 (seen) – seemed baffled by women entertaining the ‘childhood fantasy’ of being a princess
The actress’s post about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding suggested that she knew enough about the Royals to form several strong opinions about the monarchy, prior to even meeting her future husband.
‘Little girls dream of being princesses,’ Meghan wrote in the post, before insisting: ‘I, for one, was all about She-Ra, Princess of Power.
‘For those of you unfamiliar with the ’80s cartoon reference, She-Ra is the twin sister of He-Man and a sword-wielding royal rebel known for her strength.
‘We’re definitely not talking about Cinderella here.’
Meghan added that many adult women continue dreaming about their ‘childhood fantasy’ of becoming a princess before making a scathing nod to the public fascination of the conversation surrounding William and Kate in 2011.
41-year-old Meghan (seen in January 2014) wrote the post two years before she started dating Prince Harry – despite claiming she didn’t know anything about the royals before they met
‘Grown women seem to retain this childhood fantasy,’ she wrote. ‘Just look at the pomp and circumstance surrounding the royal wedding and endless conversation about Princess Kate.’
The blog post debunked the idea that the Suits actor never thought about what it would be like to marry a prince.
Now, FEMAIL lays bare the numerous times Meghan has insisted she knew nothing about the monarchy.
‘She definitely hadn’t Googled us’: Prince Harry’s memoir Spare claims the actress had NOT done research on the Royal Family
In his memoir Spare, Prince Harry has recalled the first time that Meghan Markle (left) met his grandmother The Queen (right) at the Royal Lodge in 2016
The former actress has repeatedly insisted that she had very little awareness about the Royal Family before dating her future husband, prompting even Prince Harry to write about her lack of knowledge in his memoir.
Prince Harry’s memoir Spare claimed that the Duchess of Sussex went into meeting his relatives unprepared.
In the book, which caused furious outrage and was even branded ‘pure chaos,’ Harry wrote that Meghan knew ‘almost nothing about his relatives.’
Prince Harry added that his future wife ‘definitely hadn’t Googled’ anything about the Royals or done any research.
Harry ALSO claims Meghan thought Prince Andrew was the Queen’s assistant after seeing him with her handbag
The Duke of Sussex recalls how Meghan initially believed that Prince Andrew (left) was the Queen’s assistant
Harry (right) quickly corrected his girlfriend, telling her that it wasn’t an assistant but the Queen’s ‘second son, Andrew’ (left)
He recalled the moment Meghan met his grandmother and when she mistook Prince Andrew for the Queen’s assistant because he was holding her purse.
He wrote: ‘After a moment Meg asked me something about the Queen’s assistant. I asked who she was talking about.
‘”That man holding the purse. That man who walked her to the door. That wasn’t her assistant? Who was it?”‘
Harry quickly prompted her that it was in fact his uncle and told Meghan: ‘That was her second son. Andrew.’
He wrote: ‘She definitely hadn’t Googled us.’
Meghan compares first meeting with the Queen to ‘Medieval Times’ and says she had no idea she had to curtsey
During the couple’s docu-series Meghan giggled about her first meeting with The Queen and performed an exaggerated curtsey in front of awkward-looking husband, Prince Harry
The Duchess of Sussex compared the first encounter with Her Majesty to a lowbrow themed dinner at America’s ‘Medieval Times’
Prince Harry’s book was just the latest in a string of claims that insisted the actress knew nothing about her future beau’s lifestyle.
In the couple’s highly anticipated Netflix docu-series, which aired in December, Meghan’s knowledge of the Royal Family was once again analyzed.
During one scene, the former Suits star appeared to mock her own efforts at following royal protocol as she recounted her first meeting with the Queen.
She described the initial meeting as ‘surreal’ and compared it to a dinner at ‘Medieval Times.’
The former actress even performed a curtsey in front of her husband, who appeared to be awkward throughout the entire ‘performance.’
Meghan first met the Queen in 2016 during a lunch at the Royal Lodge in Windsor, shortly after her and Prince Harry revealed they were involved.
And while their meeting marked a significant moment in their relationship, the actress chose to make a mockery of it as she said the whole occasion resembled an antiquated banquet at Medieval Times, a family dinner theater featuring medieval-style games, sword-fighting, and jousting.
‘She had no idea what it all consisted of,’ Harry tells the docu-series, as he sits with his arm around his wife. ‘So it was a bit of a shock to the system for her.’

Grinning, Meghan added: ‘I mean. it’s surreal. There wasn’t like some big moment of “Now you’re gonna meet my grandmother”.
‘I didn’t know I was going to meet her until moments before. We were in the car and we were going to the Royal Lodge for lunch, and he [Harry] was like, “Oh, my grandmother is here, she’s gonna be there after church.”.
‘I remember we were in the car, driving and he’s [Harry] like, “You know how to curtsy, right?”. And I just thought it was a joke.’
The Duke continued: ‘How do you explain that to people? How do you explain that you bow to your grandmother? And that you would need to curtsy, especially to an American. That’s weird.’
Meghan then tells the documentary: ‘Now I’m starting to realize this is a big deal. I mean, Americans will understand this. We have Medieval Times dinner and tournament. It was like that. Like, I curtsied as though I was like… “Pleasure to meet you your Majesty.”
‘It was so intense. And then when she left, Eugenie and Jack and Fergie say: “You did great!” Thanks. I didn’t know what I was doing.’
‘I had to Google God Save The Queen’: Former Suits star complains about not having a Royals crash course in Sussexes’ Netflix doc
In another episode, Meghan revealed that she had to Google the British national anthem, and she lamented about not receiving a ‘Princess Diaries’ -esque crash course on royal etiquette.
She explained that she knew so little about the monarchy that she was forced to teach herself the patriotic rendition of ‘God Save The Queen’.
Meghan admitted that she repeatedly practiced it after learning it through Google.
She also said that ‘the wave is not a thing’, claiming that she wasn’t trained to move her hand any special sort of way – but jokingly added she didn’t want to flail her hands ‘like an American’.
Meghan tells Oprah she ‘never looked up’ Harry online prior to meeting him in 2016
During a 2021 interview with Oprah, the former Suits star once again insisted that she was unprepared for her role within the Royal Family
Meghan said she didn’t grow up ‘knowing much about the royal family’
In a March, 2021 interview with Oprah, the former Suits star once again insisted that she was unprepared for her role within the Royal Family.
In the bombshell interview, Meghan said she didn’t grow up ‘knowing much about the royal family.’
The Duchess of Sussex revealed that she went into it ‘naively.’
‘I didn’t do any research about what [joining the royal family] would mean,’ she told the TV mogul, continuing: ‘I never looked up my husband online.’
She added that Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, had to teach her how to curtsy moments before meeting the Queen.
The actress remained adamant that she ‘never looked up her husband online’ when she first entered a romance with Prince Harry.
Despite her claims, Meghan admitted she knew her husband’s cousin Princess Eugenie before meeting her future husband.

A 15-year-old Meghan Markle poses in front of Buckingham Palace, with friend Ninaki Priddy, during a European trip in 1996
The couple’s first date was also rumored to be set up by designer Misha Nonoo, whose ex-husband Alexander Gilkes was friends with both Prince Harry and Prince William.
And while the former Suits star claimed she didn’t grow up with knowledge of the Royals, shortly before Meghan and Prince Harry’s 2018 wedding, her childhood best friend debunked those claims.
Ninaki Priddy, the duchess’ childhood best friend and maid of honour at her first wedding to Trevor Engelson, told the Daily Mail: ‘[Meghan] was always fascinated by the royal family. She wants to be Princess Diana 2.0.’
A picture of a 15-year-old Meghan posing in front of Buckingham Palace, with friend Ninaki, during a European trip in 1996, previously emerged before the duchess’ big day.

Ninaki said: ‘She had one of Princess Diana’s books [Diana: Her True Story] on her bookshelf, and even when she was with Trevor she told me she wanted to go and stay in London for at least a month.
‘I can’t remember exactly when this was, but she was married to Trevor and starring in Suits. She mentioned about wanting to go to London a couple of times.
‘I wasn’t shocked or even surprised to hear about Prince Harry. I know she used to love The Princess Diaries — films about a commoner who becomes part of a Royal Family. She was very taken with that idea.’
The picture came just mere weeks after royal author Robert Jobson cast doubt over how unprepared Meghan was prior to joining the Royal Family.
Writing for MailOnilne, he said: ‘Meghan has been disingenuous from the start, when she claimed she had no idea who Prince Harry was. Seriously?’
Her claims came into question once again after a 2012 TV interview of Prince Harry assuring viewers he would help prepare any future spouse resurfaced.
He said: ‘I’m not so much searching for someone to fulfil the role, but obviously, you know, finding someone that would be willing to take it on.’
