A new trailer for the psychological thriller “The Housemaid” has been released, teasing a dark and unsettling story just in time for the holiday season.
The film stars Sydney Sweeney as Millie, a woman who accepts a position as a live-in housemaid for the seemingly perfect Nina, played by Amanda Seyfried. The trailer quickly shatters the illusion of an idyllic home, revealing Nina’s volatile and increasingly unhinged behavior. In one scene, she frantically berates Millie over misplaced notes, only to shift abruptly to an unnerving calm moments later.
Set to Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please Please Please,” the trailer’s intensity builds with disturbing imagery, including Nina holding a bloody knife and a disheveled Millie, who also appears briefly in what looks like a prison uniform. The clip culminates with a bloodied Millie declaring, “I need a f–king sandwich.”
Directed by Paul Feig for Lionsgate, “The Housemaid” is based on Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel of the same name. According to the official logline, the film draws audiences into a “twisted world where perfection is an illusion, and nothing is as it seems.” As Millie attempts to escape her own past, her new job becomes a “sexy, seductive game of secrets, scandal and power.”
The cast also includes Brandon Sklenar. “The Housemaid” is scheduled to hit theaters on December 19.
