Ambassador Ken Salazar urges Mexico to recognize the reality of clean energy

The United States Ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazarassured that the United States’ greatest effort is focused on promoting renewable energies and fighting climate change, for which reason he reiterated that it is necessary to leave the energies of the past and embrace clean energies.

In a press conference held at the official residence, he stressed that President Joe Biden made the issue clear during the X Summit of North American Leaders, held on Tuesday.

Ken Salazar urged that it must be recognized that the world leader who knows more than climate change It is Secretary John Kerry, who has been to Mexico several times.

“The Government of Mexico, and also the people of Mexico, should recognize the reality that the world leader who knows more about climate change than anyone else is Secretary John Kerry, who came to Mexico for the sixth time in the last 16 months,” he said.

He stressed that the differences in the energy issue should be dealt with within the T-MECin which it is expected to obtain good results since that is what it was created for.

“The consultations in the T-MEC are a process that continues, the most important thing is the program that the president (Biden) has in the fight against climate change and raising renewable energies, which are the energies of the future and technology,” added.

Regarding the immigration issue, he recalled that the United States Congress, as Biden has said, has a responsibility and the Democrats will continue to seek solutions. He also asked that migrants not be used as a political tool.

“The Congress of the United States has to do its duty, Democrats and Republicans, independents have to find solutions. Using migrants for a political goal should not be done in the United States or here in Mexico,” he asserted.

Questioned about the process of extradition to the United States of Ovidio Guzmán, captured a few days before the trilateral summit, the ambassador limited himself to answering that they are working with Mexico so that there are more extraditions of drug traffickers.

“There we are working to make more extraditions,” he said.
