AMDA observes “slow” recovery in the commercialization of light vehicles in Mexico

The Mexican Association of Automotive Dealers (AMDA) observes a recovery trend in the market for the commercialization of light vehicles in Mexicoalthough “slow”.

The president of the AMDAGuillermo Rosales, highlighted that the scenario for this sector is positive and it is projected that 2022 will close with growth of 4%, when the perspective was a behavior similar to the previous year.

In the framework of Automotive Forum 2022organized by the AMDA, the leader of light and heavy vehicle distributors said that there is a greater inventory of units, which has favored the recovery in delivery times of cars after the sale. At the beginning of the year, vehicle deliveries were recorded in a period of three months and now it has been reduced by up to 40 days, and although the pre-pandemic times have not been achieved, it has allowed sales to increase.

As of May, the second fortnight and June, better inventory is being received in most brands. Of course, the deficiency continues in relation to pre-pandemic levels, but there is a slow recovery trend and it can already be seen in the sale of vehicles,” Rosales assured.

At the beginning of this year, the distributors had an estimate of selling 1 million 16,000 vehicles, and given the positive behavior of deliveries and a greater inventory, the commercialization of up to 1 million 58,000 units is projected, confirmed the president of the AMDA.

“As of August we are already in a scenario of positive figures. Last August, the accumulated figures gave an increase of 0.3% for September we went up to 2%, we trust that in the last quarter of the year we expect a good supply, which will reach us to reach 4%, in relation to 2021”, said Guillermo Rosales .
