The media attaché of the US Africa Command / AFRICOM / Jane Clark said that the delivery of personal protective equipment against the “Covid-19” virus to the Nigerian army took place at “063 Air Force Hospital” in the capital Abuja, indicating that this equipment will be distributed to Military and civilian medical facilities in Lagos, Kano, Akwa-Ibom, Trans-River States, and the Federal Capital Territory.
The AFRICOM official stated that the US Department of Defense, in cooperation with its Nigerian counterpart, has participated in the epidemic preparedness efforts in Nigeria by setting up 18 treatment sites and 4 sample collection centers, and has trained 150 medical personnel on ways to confront the Coronavirus and manage prevention and treatment processes.
A statement issued by AFRICOM said, “The contribution of the US Department of Defense is a model that reflects the ongoing partnership between the US and Nigerian armed forces, as well as part of the more than $ 57 million support provided by the United States to Nigeria to help it confront the Coronavirus.”
The statement also indicated that the ceremony for the delivery of medical aid was attended by the Nigerian Minister of Defense, Babangida Hosseini, in charge of American affairs, Kathleen Fitzgibbon, and the Minister of Health, Osage Ohanery, and the statement quoted the American official as saying, “It is a matter of satisfaction and happiness that we restore the many paths that we have.” We have worked together in it to improve the health, security and safety of the Nigerian people … Preserving the health and safety of Nigerian citizens is of the utmost importance, and the health of military personnel is vital to maintaining the country’s security.
