Another edition of “El Clásico Nacional” will take place during the current FIFA international break, as Club América and Chivas de Guadalajara face off in the United States.
This friendly match continues a recent tradition of bringing Mexican football’s biggest rivalry to American soil, where both clubs enjoy a fanbase comparable to their following in Mexico. Cities like Los Angeles, Houston, and Dallas are home to a large number of their supporters.
Taking advantage of the pause in the Liga MX schedule, the teams organized the exhibition match to maintain their form ahead of the upcoming Liguilla playoffs. While the game has no official stakes, the deep-seated rivalry ensures it will be a fiercely contested battle for club pride.
The last encounter between the two sides was on September 13, during Week 8 of the Liga MX season. Despite América being the favorites, Chivas secured a surprising 2-1 victory with goals from Roberto Alvarado and Armando González.
This latest chapter of the rivalry, part of the “Tour Rebaño 2025,” will be held at the State Farm Center in Glendale, Arizona. A crowd of nearly 40,000 is expected for the match, which kicks off at 11:00 PM ET (9:00 PM CDMX). The game will be broadcast on VIX and TUDN.
Player Absences
Both teams will be without several key players due to injuries and international call-ups.
Chivas will be missing Roberto Alvarado, Alan Mozo, and Erick Gutiérrez, who are all recovering from injuries. Additionally, Luis Romo and Raúl Rangel are on duty with the Mexican senior national team, while Yael Padilla and Hugo Cambebros have been called up to the U-20 squad.
For Club América, Luis Malagón, Israel Reyes, Ramón Juárez, Kevin Álvarez, Erick Sánchez, and Alexis Gutiérrez are all with the Mexican national team. Alejandro Zendejas is with the USMNT. Raúl Zuñiga and Allan Saint-Maximin will also be unavailable for the match.
