Media outlets affiliated with the Ansar Allah group (Houthis) in Yemen reported that waves of American-British raids targeted the country early Thursday morning.
The media explained that nine raids targeted several areas north and south of the capital, Sanaa, in addition to the Kahlan and Al-Aila areas, east of the city of Saada.
For his part, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that the US Air Force carried out precise strikes on five underground weapons storage sites in areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen.
Austin added that the strikes targeted Houthi facilities that they used to target ships, stressing that Washington will not hesitate to take any measures to deter Houthi attacks and protect freedom of navigation.
The US Secretary of Defense explained that the strikes were carried out with the approval of President Joe Biden, and involved B-2 bombers, which are much larger than the fighter planes that have been used so far to target the group’s facilities and weapons, and are capable of carrying a much heavier payload than bombs.
On the other hand, the Deputy Head of the Houthi Media Authority said that the United States will pay the price for its aggression, stressing that their position with Gaza and Lebanon will not budge.
