President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reported that in Mexico there is an increase in infections of the new variant of coronavirus called Omicron, but that there is no increase in hospitalization of patients.
“Fortunately there is no increase in hospitalization and, most importantly, there are no deaths.”
During the press conference this morning at the National Palace, he anticipated that the contagion of the respiratory disease will increase, but assured that the new variant “is not affecting” because it “does not have the severity” of the variant. Delta, “Which affected us a lot.”
He commented that the United States authorities maintain that it is necessary to keep five days of rest and that the symptoms do not have the same characteristics of the Delta variant, which is more harmful.
“Of course, you have to take care of yourself, but do not think that it will be the same.”
Regarding the hospital situation Nationwide, he said that until yesterday, Sunday, the occupation of general beds reached 14% and the occupation of beds with mechanical ventilators for intensive therapy reached 12%.
“Yes there are more infections, eh, but there is no more hospitalization,” he admitted, clarifying that he reported on the situation of the Covid-19 epidemic to avoid “scaremongering and yellowing.”
