AMLO insists on the need to improve within the Judicial Power of the Federation

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador assured that, despite the fact that he carried out an internal reform, the Judicial power of the Federation (PJF) “is still very spoiled.”

In his morning conference at the National Palace, the president argued that there are upright judges, with integrity and courage, who apply the law despite threats; but there are others, he said, “that everything is money, that protect criminals, both ordinary criminals and white-collar criminals, and that also happens with magistrates; well, it even happened with a minister who had to resign.”

López Obrador recalled that the Judicial power of the Federation carried out an internal reform last year. “Yes, it has been improving a lot from within, that is, by themselves, with autonomy, with independence, the Judiciary.”

And he added: “he has done a good job despite the fact that, with all due respect to that Power, it was and continues to be very spoiled, from judges, magistrates, ministers.”

The president considered that the minister president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), Arturo Zaldívar, “is top notch, he is a person of integrity”. He estimated that the fact that Zaldívar always mentions the issue of corruption “is a hallmark.”

He considered that for appointments within the Judicial power of the Federation and of the SCJN they must be “people of integrity, not corrupt, factious, pretending people, wimps of created interest groups, who have the arrogance to feel free, that’s what I want.”
