Doctors found Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in good health after being admitted to a military hospital on Friday for a routine medical check-up that included cardiac catheterization, the government said.
The 68-year-old president, who suffers from hypertension and had a heart attack in 2013, undergoes preventive tests every six months.
“In this procedure the heart and arteries of Mr. President healthy and functioning properly,” the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
“No other type of intervention was necessary and it was a short procedure that lasted about 30 minutes,” he added.
López Obrador contracted this month Covid-19 for the second time in almost a year, presenting mild symptoms, he said. A week into isolation, he showed up for his regular morning news conference, saying he felt fine.
“The President is in perfect health and surely tomorrow he will resume his activities normally,” the statement said.
