
The Syrian President, Bashar Al-Assad, issued a number of decrees pertaining to Syrian universities, including a decree increasing the value of the rewards given to outstanding students.
Decree No. 1 of 2021 decided to amend the value of the rewards granted by public universities to outstanding students to make the reward for the first outstanding graduate 250,000 pounds (about $ 200 at the official price, and less than $ 90 at the real price in the parallel market).
The value of the reward given to the first graduate was equivalent to 50,000 pounds, and it is awarded with a certificate called “Al-Basel Prize for University Excellence”
Also, according to the decree, the values of the bonuses granted to outstanding students in the transitional years rose to 100 thousand pounds for the first superior, 90 thousand for the second, and 75 thousand for the third (up from 20 thousand pounds, 17.5 thousand pounds and 15 thousand pounds, respectively).
Note that the official price of the dollar is set at 1256 pounds, while its price in the parallel (black) market has exceeded 2,900 pounds.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research published a number of other decrees issued by Al-Assad regarding the university education sector, and they stipulated:
Appointment of Maan Salih Al-Salameh, Vice President of Al-Baath University for Scientific Affairs, for a period of two years.
– Extending the appointment of Nasser Mustafa Saad al-Din, vice president of Al-Baath University for scientific research and graduate studies, for a period of two years.
Extending the appointment of Kango Abboud Kanjo, Vice President of Hama University for Scientific Affairs, for a period of two years.
Extending the appointment of Maad Youssef Al-Najjar, Vice President of Hama University for Student Affairs and Administrative Affairs, for a period of two years.
