Moroccan Hussein Amouta, the coach of the Jordanian national football team, decided to use Hamza Al-Dardour, the veteran striker of Al-Hussein Irbid, in the official squad for the 2023 Asian Cup finals, which begin next January in the Qatari capital, Doha.
Al-Dardour (33 years old) will lead the Jordanian national team’s attack alongside the trio Musa Al-Taamari (Montpellier, France), Yazan Al-Naimat (Al-Ahly, Qatar) and Ali Alwan (Al-Shamal, Qatar).
Al-Dardour, who missed participating in the last edition held in the Emirates in 2019, is considered the historic top scorer for the Jordanian national team, with 35 goals in 121 international matches that he played during his career with the Al-Nashama national team, which began in 2011.
The Jordanian national team did not know the taste of victory during the Amouta era, which he led in 7 matches, losing 5 and drawing twice.
The Jordanian national team resumed training in Amman after returning from the Lebanese capital – Beirut, where they played a friendly match last Thursday that ended with a 2-1 victory for the hosts.
The Jordanian national team delegation is expected to leave for Doha next Tuesday to hold a training camp in preparation for playing two friendly matches against Qatar and Japan on the 5th and 9th of next January, before opening its participation in the Asian finals on the 15th of next January against the Malaysian national team.
The Asian Cup finals will start on January 12, with the draw placing the Nashama team in Group E, alongside South Korea, Bahrain and Malaysia.
