The Egyptian Amr Warda, the Greek Volos player, confirmed that he was innocent of sexual harassment charges during the Egyptian national team camp, in the 2019 Nations Africa Cup.
“I miss playing with the Egyptian national team jersey, and everyone knows that I am innocent,” Warda said during his interview with the Al-Allaib program on MBC Egypt.
At the time, a blatant video clip of the Egyptian player, which he sent to a girl, who later posted it on “Twitter”, in addition to messages on “Instagram”, spread.
Warda was excluded from the ranks of the Pharaohs team following that incident, and the player himself acquitted it, although he indicated during his statements later that the incident happened 3 years ago.
Warda praised Salah, stressing that he is a role model for anyone in Egypt, and he is one of the five best players in the history of Egypt.
And about what Mohamed Salah, the star of Liverpool and the Egyptian national team, said to him, he explained: “Salah knows that I did not do anything and I gave him my phone and he knows that all people make mistakes and knows that I am wronged. I stayed for 10 days in the room, not leaving.”
And he continued: “I said to Mohamed Salah, I swear to God, nothing happened. Every Egyptian team was standing with me. I am wronged and everyone is attacking me. I am in my room. I gave my phone to all the players. What happened was two or three years ago, certainly someone wanted to cause me a crisis.”
He continued: “The decision to exclude me from the Egyptian national team was not recommended by the technical staff or by the interference of the players. The team players told Agiri (the coach of the national team), if Warda leaves, we will all leave the team.”
And Warda concluded: “I am communicating in the current period with Mohamed Salah, Al-Nani, Kouka, Al-Mohammadi, and Trezegh. Ahmed Hegazy is one of the most popular games that I had with me at the time of the problem, and he was the first to go to hire me and told him we will leave if Amr Warda leaves.”
