The American Military Watch newspaper said that Russia is allocating huge funds to developing its future aircraft using modern technologies.
Among them is the technology of manufacturing the weapon based on the principle of the electromagnetic pulse, or rather the electromagnetic gun, which may be installed on various ground, sea and air platforms, including warplanes.

The newspaper said that a nuclear explosion is a primary source of the strong electromagnetic pulse. But engineers in some countries decided to design an electromagnetic weapon on the basis of a microwave generator that does not spread over a long distance, but can disable all electronics, from simple computers to large aircraft devices. These waves may also reach ground targets, when provided with sufficient power.
According to the newspaper, information appeared in the media in July 2020, according to which Russia was testing an electromagnetic gun, which has a range of 10 kilometers, which can be used against a wide range of targets, including warplanes and radars.
This weapon may be useful when used in near space by aircraft intended to fly outside the boundaries of the stratosphere, such as future Russian “MiG-41” fighters.
The newspaper pointed out that the electromagnetic gun has no payoff, unlike classic cannons or missiles.
A less powerful electromagnetic gun may be used to combat various drones.
The American newspaper came out with the conclusion that the promising Russian electromagnetic weapon may be installed on various platforms, including short-range air defenses and even the fourth and fifth generation fighters.
