A senior American official praised Qatar’s role in reaching an agreement at dawn on Wednesday between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (agitationIts most prominent provisions led to an exchange of prisoners from both sides and a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The American official said in an official briefing that an agreement had been reached regarding the first phase of the prisoner exchange deal, which would include the release of 50 women and children in Gaza in exchange for Israel releasing a number of prisoners in its prisons. He added that among those who would be included in the first phase of the agreement were two American women and a girl.
The source revealed that the official announcement of the prisoner exchange deal will be made through the State of Qatar, after Israel receives its response, praising Doha’s efforts during this stage of the negotiations.
He said that the process of implementing the agreement will begin 24 hours after the official announcement of the agreement, indicating that it is possible that the truce period will be extended if there is progress in the second phase of the agreement.
He stressed that the US administration will continue to work on the next stages of the agreement until all the hostages are released, saying that actual progress occurred in the course of the negotiations after Hamas determined the identities of the 50 hostages.
For its part, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced:The success of joint Qatari mediation efforts with Egypt and the United States between Israel and Hamas.”
She said in a statement, “Mediation efforts resulted in reaching a humanitarian truce agreement, the start time of which will be announced within 24 hours,” and that “the humanitarian truce will last 4 days, subject to extension.”

Earlier, the Israeli government ratified the deal to exchange prisoners and detainees in Gaza with Hamas and establish a temporary truce in the Strip, according to an official statement.
