The US Air Force’s 18th Aerospace Monitor Squadron announced that the unemployed US NoAA 17 satellite had exploded into 16 pieces.

The squadron indicated in a tweet on its website on “Twitter” that “the NOAA 17 satellite exploded at 10.11 Moscow time on March 10, and from monitoring 16 pieces that resulted from its explosion, no traces of its collision with another object were detected.”
According to US Air Force data, before its explosion, this moon was flying in an orbit at a height of not less than 800 km and no more than 817 km. He did not disclose whether these pieces pose a threat to the devices and satellites operating in space.
It is reported that the NOAA 17 satellite was launched in June 2002 and was discontinued in 2013. Satellites of this type had previously been destroyed as a result of the explosion of the batteries on board.
