An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale on Thursday jolted northern Cyprus.
The European and Mediterranean Seismological Center reported that the epicenter of the earthquake occurred 41 km from the southeast of the capital of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicosia, which is home to 200,000 people, and was at a depth of 60 km.

In turn, the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Department stated that it had detected a magnitude 5 earthquake in the city of Gazi Magusta in the internationally recognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
So far, there were no reports of injuries or material damage due to the earthquake.
