Physicsworld, the most popular science journal in physics around the world, has named the research of Egyptian scientist Ilham Fadali as the best scientific research for 2020.
The journal chose the scientist and her team at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, where the research involved the transmission of information through light by using silicon fibers.
The magazine announced on its website that Fadali and her scientific team won The Physics World Award 2020 for this year.
Fadali said in a video for the “Egypt Can” program, which specializes in communicating with Egyptian scientists abroad, that her doctorate is specialized in nanoscale and nanomaterials related to the structure of matter that enables us to obtain different properties of the atom, which is reflected in obtaining an efficient and effective light emission. And the possibility of their use in transmitting information and making a leap in the world of electronics, and that the devices around us include two methods of transmitting information, electrical wires and optical technology.
She added that the most important flaws of the two methods are the production of heat quantities that affect the transmission of data, turning it into its transmission for certain distances across continents, noting that through her research she was able to obtain different properties and change in the components of silicon so that the information is transferred through it easily and in a safe manner, which will achieve a breakthrough in information technology. .
