The World Health Organization called on the Egyptian government to review the data on the numbers of infections and deaths with the Coronavirus in Egypt.
Rana Al-Hajjah, director of the programs department at the World Health Organization’s office in the Eastern Mediterranean region, whose authority is to monitor conditions in Arab countries, said, speaking to the Egyptian “DMC” channel, on Wednesday: The data issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Health regarding the numbers of deaths and those infected with the emerging coronavirus, need to be reviewed. “.
Al-Hujjah explained that the data currently issued depends on the percentage of examinations that are conducted in the country, “but there are other indicators such as the death rate, and the Ministry of Health announced that not all patients are examined.”
The health official added that the correct data must include the method and quantity of examinations that are carried out, and whether it is from all laboratories or only affiliated with the Ministry of Health, noting that there are several questions that need review regarding the subject.
Egypt has been witnessing for weeks, tangible increases in indicators of the spread of the Corona virus, with the level of infections reaching about 1,000 cases per day, while the death toll exceeds the barrier of 50 cases on a daily basis.
So far, 152,719 confirmed cases of the virus have been recorded in the country, including 8,362 deaths.
