Analysis of AMLO’s political reform will begin this week

The president of the Political Coordination Board (PCB) of the Chamber of Deputies, Ignacio Mier Velazco (Morena) reported that this week he will begin the discussion of political and electoral reform, which includes the presidential initiative sent in April of this year.

The also coordinator of the Morena Parliamentary Group in San Lázaro warned that the amendment proposal is expected to be discussed this week in the United Commissions of the Interior, Constitutional Points and Electoral Political Reform.

In addition to the fact that the analysis will be mixed, that is, with secondary laws and constitutional reform.

Mier maintained that his party will propose that the text of the Constitution contain three irreducible concepts; have an electoral body that is not expensive; that its members be democratically elected and that it “really” deepen the citizenization of those who will make up the General Council of the body.

Mier Velazco also emphasized that another purpose, which will be especially taken care of in this reform, is “that both indigenous people and Afro-Mexicans, as well as the LGBTTTIQ+ community and women, are guaranteed their participation in a clear and express manner in the Constitution.” .

While he stressed that the financing of political parties must be done with transparency, “to end any opportunity to profit from poverty or commit fraud.”

Given this scenario, Mier noted that they will be intense days that will require consensus and agreements.

This discussion on electoral matters will take place after the ruling party in the Chamber of Deputies will hold 22 forums with various experts and politicians.

The reform is expected to emanate from other initiatives that have been presented, but it will mainly be based on the proposal sent to the Legislative by the federal Executive.
