Comedian Andy Dick has insisted he was acting in self defense when he allegedly attacked a former lover with a metal chair, and that his leg was broken in the brawl, as he was released from jail on $50,000 bail.
Dick, 55, was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon in LA on Saturday following a fight with his former lover Lucas Crawford.
But his rep told Page Six: ‘Lucas came to Andy’s apartment that day already in a bad mood. They were play fighting and razzing each other and Andy says next thing he knew, things turned serious for Lucas.’
Dick himself told the outlet that Crawford ‘body-slammed’ his leg, and that he threw the chair as he was trying to get away.
He said: ‘My femur got broken and my ankle got shattered and the tendons and ligaments on the other side are ripped off the bone.
‘I was limping and it hurt and then we got into another fight and I threw a chair. He just has a little cut. I am in a cast. We wrestled and it got; he’s just too strong. He is stronger than me.’

Dick told Page Six that the pair had been drinking before the attack, but insists that they were not drunk or impaired.
His rep added: ‘Andy didn’t want to report Lucas. As a friend, he’s tried to help Lucas on several occasions, including giving him money and a place to crash when he’s needed it. Lucas is obviously an individual who has manipulated and dominated his relationship with Andy.’
Page Six reported that a colleague from an upcoming movie paid Dick’s $50,000 bail.
Dick also said he was ‘hurt’ that news of his arrest was leaked by fiancee Elisa Jordana, 33, on her YouTube show, Kermit and Friends, on Tuesday.
‘He could have killed him,’ Jordana said of Crawford, who she said was taken to Cedars-Sinai hospital to treat his injuries. ‘I saw pictures, I saw video; it’s not good.’
Dick has previously struggled with substance abuse, and has had multiple brushes with the law.
Jordana (born Elisa Ann Schwartz), who stated Dick gets ‘very aggressive’ when drunk, said ‘there were signs ‘ that ‘something was going to happen.’
‘It was getting worse and worse and worse,’ she said the week leading up to the assault. ‘Everyday there was some kind of problem.’
‘There are warning signs with people,’ Jordana says. ‘It doesn’t happen out of the blue. When I heard he was in jail, I wasn’t that surprised.’

Jordana also claimed Dick was staying at a hostel after he was evicted from his home and stole ‘cutlery, a wine glass, and plates’ from a steakhouse.
‘He asked for a doggie bag so he could put all that in,’ she recalled, in addition to alleging he told the waitress he wanted to sleep with her.
Recently, she said he had her meet him and a group of his friends at Canter’s Deli to pay their bill after none of them could afford the check.
She said she ‘wasn’t that surprised’ to find out he was in prison and admitted it was a relief because she doesn’t have to ‘worry that he is going to die today.’

He’s out for now: The YouTuber said he was released on bail, which was set at $50,000, on Tuesday morning
It is far from the first time that Dick has been in trouble with police.
In 2019, he was sentenced to 14 days in jail for sexual battery after allegedly squeezing a woman’s butt, but was released after just one night of serving time due to overcrowding.
In April 2018, he plead not guilty to one count of misdemeanor sexual battery for allegedly groped the crotch of his male Uber driver.
Also in 2018, his estranged wife Lena Sved filed a domestic violence restraining order against her husband, which was granted. He was required to move out of the family home and stay 100 yards away from Sved and their children.
In 2017 he was fired from indie movie Raising Buchanan after being accused of sexual harassment and misconduct on set by at least four people involved in the production.
He denied allegations that he had groped people’s genitals, but admitted to the Hollywood Reporter that he had licked people and made sexual advances on others.
Dick was arrested in 2010 for allegedly groping a bouncer and patron while drunk at a bar in West Virginia. The charges were dismissed after he completed a pre-trial diversion program. Dick later settled a civil lawsuit.

In 2008 Dick allegedly approached a 17-year-old girl at a California restaurant, and authorities say he ‘grabbed her tank top and bra and pulled them down and exposed her breast.’
He was found intoxicated at a nearby Sam’s Club and in possession of marijuana at the time of his arrest.
He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor drug and battery charges and was ordered to serve three years of probation.
In 2007 Dick publicly groped Ivanka Trump during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Dick and Ivanka were both appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live at the time of the incident, with her coming on as the second guest.
She was greeted by Dick, who asked Ivanka for a ‘big, wet kiss’ right off the bat Kimmel later told Extra.
The situation spiraled with Dick rubbing his hands on Ivanka’s thighs and knee while she politely tried to stop the unwanted advances.
Kimmel proceeded to stop Dick from touching Ivanka before continuing the interview.
Dick continued to touch Ivanka, first trying to grab at Ivanka’s ponytail and then touching her arm.
Eventually Kimmel called for security and Dick was dragged off the stage.
In 2005, Dick was ushered off stage while performing a comedy sketch when he exposed his genitals to the crowd.
