The retail business chains could be affected by electrical cost overrun between 30 and 40%, in the event that the electrical counter-reform proposed by President Andrés Manuel López is approved, for which they would be forced to transfer it to the consumer with the additional 3% increase in products, whose inflationary impact would be by 1 percentage point, said Vicente Yáñez, president of the National Association of Self-Service and Department Stores (ANTAD).
The business leader urged legislators and the federal government to take measures to control inflation, on the contrary, because the inflationary increase, translated into prices of basic necessities that affects the population with fewer resources.
“One of the measures that we should take in order not to increase inflation is precisely to think very well about how this reform in energy matters that can affect, can impact the costs (that the stores sell) in an important way. We estimate that the cost of electricity is around 2 or 3% of the price of the products,” said Yáñez.

In a virtual press conference, Yáñez explained that if this electrical reform is approved in its terms, the modern commercial sector would have an impact of between 30 and 40% on the cost of electricity, if we are considering that this is 2 or 3% of the cost of the products, there you already have a point of direct inflation of this”.
