The Kansas City Chiefs announced several roster moves on Monday, placing defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah on season-ending Injured Reserve. The third-year player suffered a hamstring injury during Saturday’s preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks.
In a series of corresponding transactions, the Chiefs signed defensive end Owen Carney and linebacker Xander Mueller, while waiving rookie running back Elijah Young.
Carney, 26, returns to the Chiefs after spending a portion of training camp with the team last summer. A former standout at the University of Illinois, he initially signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and is still seeking his first regular-season action.
Mueller joins the team after a five-year career at Northwestern, where he recorded 273 total tackles, 28 tackles for loss, and nine sacks in 46 games. Both new signings will have an opportunity to make an impression in the Chiefs’ final preseason game on Friday night.
