APEC warns cigarette ban will lead to black market and extortion

As of this Monday, small stores and convenience stores are prohibited from displaying cigarettes (a legal product) for sale, which will not generate any benefit, and instead will generate a black market, which is currently equivalent to 20% of national consumption, warned the National Alliance of Small Merchants (ANPEC).

Those businesses that do not implement this prohibition may be subject to fines and economic sanctions, for which the private organization ordered the businessmen of small shops, small businesses and all kinds of convenience stores to proceed with the protection to avoid the risk of extortion by of the officials.

Through a statement in which the merchants demand to work without prohibitions: “For this, we oppose it! And because of that, ANPEC It is available to all small businesses that want to protect themselves from these future scenarios that will end up affecting our economy, security and families.

Currently, the illegal industry is equivalent to 20% of national consumption. With these new measures, this activity can grow exponentially, since there will be no adequate control of the market. In addition, spaces are opened to promote corruption.
