Meta commented on the closure of this account by saying, “Our security employees discovered a possible hacking attempt into pro-Palestinian accounts with millions of followers, and they closed the accounts while trying to reach the account owners.”
The management of the “Eye on Palestine” account announced the restoration of its account on Instagram, saying, “We are back to you again. Eye on Palestine brings you the sound and image that the official media does not show. We defend our people and their legitimate rights guaranteed by heavenly laws and even international laws by revealing the truth that is not shown.” Covered by the sun.
She added, “We have seen your beautiful interaction and your posts asking about us, and we would like to clarify some important matters, including that the closure of the page came as a result of the continuous reports the page is exposed to and some technical problems that we worked hard to solve during the past days. We do not have any other accounts except the alternative account, which we have disabled in order to preserve the integrity of the page.”
The page administration indicated that it had disabled its Facebook page due to the continuous deletion of posts.
On the other hand, the pioneers of social media platforms considered that Meta Company was applying double standards in the Palestinian issue, and that it was trying to restrict content related to Gaza and the Israeli bombing it was subjected to, in exchange for not restricting any Israeli content, as they put it.
Instagram also apologized last week for adding the word “terrorist” to some Palestinian users’ profiles, which it said was caused by an error in automatic translation.
Other pioneers confirmed that boycotting Meta platforms for 24 hours would cause the company huge losses, and some also called for the creation of an Arabic platform that supports Arabic content and the Palestinian issue in particular.
