A recent survey entitled “Happiness and Well-being in the Middle East and North Africa” was conducted, revealing a set of visions about the happiness and well-being of employees in the region and their levels of life satisfaction in general. According to the survey, the majority of respondents in Egypt are satisfied with their mental health (85%), their personal relationships with family and friends (77%), their current physical health, and independence in making their own decisions (both of which are the same 74%). Other personal life elements that respondents were satisfied with included: freedom to follow personal beliefs (68%) and freedom to form social relationships (63%).
In addition, more than half of the participants (56%) were satisfied with their life in general, while only 27% expressed their dissatisfaction, and the rest of the participants were neutral about this.
Health-related factors are an important part of the happiness and well-being of participants in Egypt, and 65% of professionals rated their general health status as good or excellent.
Happiness and satisfaction with career
Professional life greatly affects employee happiness and well-being, and in this context, nearly half of respondents in Egypt (46%) said they are satisfied with working hours, followed by freedom to make decisions at work (40%), and being recognized at work (39%) Support from colleagues (38%) followed by support from line managers (35%). While 35% of the respondents stated that they are satisfied with the level of work-life balance.
What are the factors affecting satisfaction with the country of residence?
The temperate weather factor emerged as the most satisfied thing for Egyptians (63%), followed by the availability of services (such as drinking water, electricity, fuel, etc.) (53%), and the ability to maintain personal relationships with family and friends (50%).
