Some Louisville-area school districts are reopening on a delayed scheduled Monday, following another round of snow in the region.
Jefferson County Public Schools is among several districts opening on a 2-hour delay. Students were supposed to return to classrooms last week following the winter break.
Here’s what to know about other school districts and area universities:
JCPS officials have announced a 2-hour delay, “due to some side road conditions and sidewalk access to bus stops.”
Early Childhood classes will be canceled, and some bus delays are expected, a district spokesperson said in a press release.
All dismissal times remain normal, as do after school athletic events and extracurricular activities.
New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated schools announced schools will be operating on a 2-hour delay Monday, district officials announced.
In a statement, the district said students “may experience later than normal pick-up times” Monday, due to some some roads “being very difficult to navigate.”
“Buses will try to pick up all students but if your road is one lane or still impassable, you may need to take your student to school,” the district stated. “Please make sure you have downloaded the Stopfinder App and we will try to provide you with timely communication. We apologize for this inconvenience.
Officials from Oldham County Schools have not announced a decision on whether schools would be open Monday.
Students with Bullitt County Public Schools are set to return to classrooms in-person Monday, district officials announced.
Students in Shelby County Public Schools are set to return Monday, the district announced on social media.
Students in Spencer County Public Schools are expected to return to classrooms following a 2-hour delay Monday morning, the district announced Sunday afternoon.
“After assessing bus routes today, we found that while our majority of our roads are in excellent condition, several challenges remain, including low-hanging tree limbs and multiple parked cars in cul-de-sacs and turnarounds,” a statement read. “To ensure the safety of our students and drivers, we believe it would be beneficial for drivers to complete their routes after daylight hours.”
Greater Clark County Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay Monday, the district said in a statement.
“If your child’s bus cannot safely pick them up, you will receive a notification,” the statement read. “The driver will make this decision while on the route, which may cause a delay in mass communication. If alternative transportation cannot be provided, please notify your child’s school. Absences will be marked excused, and students will have time to make up their work.”
Clarksville Community Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay Monday, the district said in a statement.
Kentucky School for the Blind officials announced the school is open Monday.
Officials have not yet announced if Archdiocese of Louisville Catholic elementary and high schools will be open Monday.
