Today, Gaza may be considered the primary site where the brutal war that the global media focuses on is taking place, but the truth is that there is a different kind of war going on at the same time, and it is integrally linked to the war taking place in Gaza, and this war is taking place in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
What is meant here is not the attacks carried out by the Israeli occupation forces in the cities of the West Bank on a daily basis, which every day cause the bombing of homes and the fall of martyrs, the number of whom at the time of writing this article has exceeded 200 martyrs in various cities and villages of the West Bank.
In this regard, we refer only to the war declared by settler groups against the Palestinians in the West Bank and in Jerusalem. Taking advantage of the overwhelming Western political sympathy for the occupation government, and an attempt to achieve a new reality in the region after the dust of the battle in Gaza settles, or in accordance with various scenarios put forth by some occupation politicians.
These scenarios are based on achieving an Israeli victory in the war on Gaza, dismantling the Hamas movement, and displacing the population of the Gaza Strip to Sinai, as a good number of Israeli politicians threatened at the beginning of the war.
Although the idea of displacing Palestinians – in Gaza to Sinai, and in the West Bank to Jordan – seems superficial from a realistic standpoint, it should be noted here that the extreme right-wing movement that rules the occupying state today is not a secular movement in large part, but rather there is A large part belongs – in fact – to the Salvationist religious movement, which believes in end-time prophecies, the descent of Christ the Savior, and other religious fundamentalist narratives that govern the movement of the followers of this movement.
Today, this movement is enthusiastically participating in this battle. Because he considers it a prelude to the end-of-the-world battle that will bring about Christ the Savior!
This is what the leaders of this movement constantly participating in the fighting on the Gaza front point out. Most of them belong to the religious Zionist movement, to which the two rabbis: Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich belong.
Members of these groups can be distinguished among the occupation soldiers in Gaza by some of the symbols they carry on their military uniforms, such as the image of the temple, for example.
The institutions of this movement – such as the extremist Bedino organization, for example – are keen to constantly publish their pictures to confirm their presence on the front.
Although the followers of this movement are actively participating in the war in Gaza, their greatest focus is in fact in the West Bank, and therefore their grand plans are taking place there.
This group is currently active on a daily basis in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque by performing prayers, while its members wear military uniforms, to demand victory for the occupation army in the war in Gaza. It recently announced an integrated program for central raids coinciding with the upcoming Hanukkah (Lights) holiday.
Here, it should be noted that settlers' ongoing attacks against Palestinian citizens in the West Bank.
But what is more dangerous than that – as it seems – is that members of these groups have begun to move at this stage to a new step, which is to confuse the residents of the West Bank through calls for their displacement to Jordan.
Recently, an unknown group appeared and began publishing messages on the ground in the West Bank, and in sponsored advertisements on Facebook – which is considered the most followed in the Palestinian territories – all of which call on Palestinians in the West Bank to immigrate to Jordan. As a better solution for both parties.
This work has several goals: Among them is exploiting the various calls published by individuals and officials in the occupation government to displace the residents of the Gaza Strip to Sinai to spread the idea and mix up the cards, in order to create a major shock among the Palestinian community in the West Bank that prevents it from participating forcefully in the current war. Fearing the “fate” of the population in Gaza, whether through destruction, killing, or displacement.
It appears that those responsible for these calls belong to newly formed extremist right-wing religious groups, as these groups follow new methods of work.
Individuals from these groups also appear to be active activists in extremist temple groups operating in the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem as well.
For example, when we follow up on these calls, we find a number of them reaching extremely extremist organizations, most of which are located in the settlements of the southern West Bank, especially the “Kiryat Arba” settlement. Among these groups is the so-called “Sons of Moriah,” which was recently founded in this settlement.
This group is currently active on a daily basis in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque by performing prayers, while its members wear military uniforms, to demand victory for the occupation army in the war in Gaza. It recently announced an integrated program for central raids coinciding with the upcoming Hanukkah holiday.
It also announces a major demonstration in Jerusalem on the eighth of December, passing through Damascus Gate and Al-Sahira Gate to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, to demand that Muslims be punished for the events of October 7 by completely preventing them from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque, led by a number of rabbis from settlements in the southern West Bank, such as: David Ben Moriah and Baruch Ben Joseph.
One of the most important outcomes of these activities – as these groups imagine – is to exploit the war to remove the Islamic Endowments Department from Israeli law, and prevent it from working in Al-Aqsa Mosque!
Also, this group – in cooperation with the extremist Bedino organization – published pictures of Israeli prisoners and detainees in Gaza outside the Mughrabi Gate of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque to constantly incite the settlers who storm Al-Aqsa daily – who have so far numbered about 4,000 extremists since the beginning of the war – to take retaliatory measures inside Al-Aqsa Mosque. Al-Mubarak, and against the guards and employees of the Islamic Endowments Department, to which this group sends constant threats and demands the complete cancellation of its presence.
If we link these events together, we find ourselves facing an integrated operation carried out by secret settler organizations in the West Bank and Jerusalem. To turn the tables on the Palestinians in the West Bank, and change the reality there, and in the holy sites in Jerusalem, starting with, and in continuation of the work of the occupation government in the Gaza Strip within the displacement scenario.
These groups may even think about turning against the secular movement opposing them in Israel, which is naturally biased towards the Sahel region.
When reviewing the speeches of the symbols of this extremist movement to its right-wing audience concentrated in the West Bank, we find that the possibility of his having a separatist vision is not excluded.
Itamar Ben Gvir has been constantly arming West Bank settlers since the beginning of the war on Gaza, thus forming an armed militia of settlers parallel to the occupation army in the West Bank.
Here we should not forget that he had stipulated on Netanyahu in the first government formation talks that he be allowed to form an armed security apparatus for West Bank settlers called the “National Guard.”
This actually means that the religious Zionist movement is working to form its own army in its areas of influence in the West Bank, and in the event that the political and societal rift in Israel worsens, it has the possibility of being independent of itself from the Israeli army, and carrying out its own wars, the direct goal of which is, of course, an attempt to implement its vision of displacing Palestinians from the West Bank to Jordan, and perhaps establish their own entity in the region.
We repeat here that someone might say; The scenario of displacement from Gaza to Sinai – as an example of any similar scenario in the West Bank – is illogical and practically inapplicable. This is true from a practical standpoint, but it should be noted that settler groups do not view the issue in the same way. These groups still control the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of National Security through Smotrich and Ben Gvir.
Although Ben Gvir is known for his extreme recklessness and his ridiculous populist speeches, even within Israel, a person like Smotrich has a clear vision of how to carry out the displacement process, in a more profound and dangerous way than Ben Gvir, and this raises the level of danger of these plans.
The passivity of the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank – in dealing with settler attacks and calls for displacement to Jordan – tempts Smotrich to move forward in trying to achieve this plan.
Here it must be noted that the tools to attempt to implement such a plan already exist. Ben Gvir, who is arming the West Bank settlers, finds the necessary funds from Smotrich through the Ministry of Finance, whose assets he controls.
Although the possibility of the success of these plans – in the West Bank and Jerusalem at the hands of extremist right-wing groups – remains an uncontested issue, the mere imagining that these groups will attempt to forcefully implement their vision in the West Bank and Jerusalem through their militias and private army means the possibility of the situation exploding uncontrollably. unprecedented in the region.
Therefore, this scenario should not be ruled out; Because we are simply not dealing here with balanced personalities, but rather they are religiously motivated personalities towards a devastating collision, and therefore we need someone to ring the bell and look at every little and big thing in the scene deeply before it is too late.
